Doorbell (battery)

This doorbell can be installed completely wirelessly, but it can also be hardwired to supply constant power to the battery.

If you're using the doorbell wirelessly, you can potentially avoid drilling by using third party 3M strips to mount the doorbell, but doing so is not recommended by the manufacturer. Nest itself does not offer approved no-drill mounts.

Nest allows you to view the most recent 3 hours of recordings on the cloud for free, but you must purchase a Nest Aware subscription for 30-60 days of video storage.

This doorbell does not have overhead view capabilities.

This doorbell doesn't have a pre-recording feature.

This doorbell streams and records video in 960x1280 resolution.

If used wirelessly, this doorbell will need to be periodically recharged. If hardwired, it will be recharged via electrical power but may still need recharging occasionally if the trickle charge is not sufficient. This doorbell can also be set up with a plug-in adaptor (sold separately) if you want to provide constant power but don't have wiring.

Nest doorbells can notify you from a Google Nest/Home or Amazon Echo speaker if someone rings the bell.

This doorbell may be compatible with your existing chime when hardwired.

This doorbell can tell the difference between people and other types of motion and send notifications accordingly.

This doorbell can be paired with the Wasserstein Wireless Chime for Nest Doorbell (sold separately).

This doorbell does not come bundled with a chime device

In order to recharge this doorbell, you must take it off the mounting bracket and charge it indoors — there is no removable battery.

The Google Home app will provide the best experience when managing Nest doorbells. They are not compatible with the Nest app.

This doorbell can tell if a package has been left at your door and will notify you.

Nest doorbells can be linked to Alexa, allowing you to use Alexa voice commands and stream doorbell video to Alexa-enabled devices. You may not have access to all the features you would if you used the Google Home platform and devices.

You can use Alexa voice commands to control your Nest doorbell.

This doorbell is natively compatible with Google Home.

This doorbell records head-to-toe video in a 3:4 aspect ratio.

You can use Google Assistant voice commands to control your Nest doorbell.

The Nest doorbell is not compatible with Apple HomeKit.

With a Nest subscription, this doorbell can recognize specific faces that you've trained it to recognize, such as family and friends. This feature is called familiar face detection
